WOTC announced today that the Open Gaming License (OGL), under which outsiders can produce material for the D&D game, will not get published until early in 2015. Interestingly, the announcement focuses on fan-created material, with no mention of how it might apply to professional publications. Many of today’s RPG copanies, esp. Paizo, Green Ronin, Troll Lords and Privateer, trace their origins back to the release of D&D 3.0 and the original OGL.
