We are working on posting up a listing of the games in the store game library into Google Docs. These are games you can play here or rent to take home for a week. So far we have a number of our Red and Blue games listed. These are light to heavy strategy games that take either less than an hour (Blue Games) or more than an hour (Red Games) to play. The list does not show if a game is currently rented or not. You will need to email us at email@example.com to inquire if a game listed in the library is out.
Steve Jackson Games did not feel the market would support a Munchkin Shakespeare game so the company decided to run a Kickstarter campaign to produce it. There is only one production run of the game so we decided to back the campaign in order to bring it to you. We brought in 14 copies of the basic game and 12 copies of the expansion set with all of the campaign add-ons and, according to Steve Jackson Games, once we sell out of them, that is it. The game is on sale today so get your copy before it “exits, pursued by a bear”.
We still have a few Magic 2015 promo packs remaining. While they last, buy 5 packs of Magic (or 2 Modern Masters) and get one of these 2015 Magic Promo packs free. The actual promo pack may differ from the one pictured here as WOTC put out several different types.
Join us on May 14 at 1 p.m. for Steve Jackson Games’ Munchkin Cthulhu Game Day. All participants will receive promo cards and bookmarks.
The Raging Tempest Sneak Peek is today. While quantities last, get 5 packs and a promo card.
In case you are looking for a last minute presented, we have both the release of the new edition of Steve Jackson Games’ Ogre as well as the Munchkin Christmas Lite 2 player version of Munchkin
Just in time for Christmas, we received our order of Haba Games. This line of games, imported from Germany, while suitable for all ages, is designed for players as young as two to understand and play. Stop by before Christmas and check out our newest product line.
Since 2014, the store has selected a Stocking Stuffer of the Year. The games winning this honor have to meet three criteria:
1) cost less than $20
2) easily fit in a stocking
3) Be a lot of fun to play
This year we chose Antidote from Bellwether Games because it fits all three criteria. On several occasions, we have played the game at the store and players wanted to start another game as soon as they finished the first one. Add in the fact that the publisher, Bellwether Games, is located here in Carbondale and you can see why Antidote is our choice for Stocking Stuffer of the Year
What is the Stocking Stuffer of the Year? Each year we select a game that meets three criteria:
- It is fun to play
- It has a small package, the better to fit into a stocking
- It costs less than $20
The Stocking Stuffer of the Year in 2014 was Asmodee’s Timeline, a fun game that only costs $14.99 and in which knowledge of history helps but is not necessary. 2015’s choice was Love Letter, a neat little game of bluffing that can play in less than 15 minutes.
What is 2016’s Stocking Stuffer of the Year? Check back here on Monday or listen to Scott on Talk of the Town at 1o a.m. on December 12.
